And soon I'll be able to.
I returned from my trip to Mobile AL for their Mardi Gras celebration four pounds heavier. As in, 194 lbs. As in, my new all time high. THIS IS NOT GOOD! And this year we didn't even eat as much in the way as fried food, and consumed far fewer alcoholic drinks.
The answer to my problems should be coming along any day now. I'm moving to an apartment complex with a really nice fitness room. We chose our model of those available so we'd be closer to the clubhouse and the gym. Plus with two sets of stairs in the apartment I'm sure to get into better shape, right?
Do you diet in Black and White? I do. It is either, I'm being good to myself, or I'm being really bad. Something that just struck me right across the face yesterday is just how black and white my dieting seems to be.
When I'm being good to myself, as in healthy, I'm pretty much good all around. I eat healthy foods with lost of veggies, drink water, and go to the gym. On the flip side, I order chinese or pizza, drink beer, and park it in front of the TV. I seem to have very little middle ground.
Now that I've realized this what can I do about it? Well, first off I really need to make sure I cover my dinner base as that is where we frequently start slacking off. I made sure to stop and get a pre-cooked chicken and some frozen veggies last night on the way home so I would just have to spend about 10 minutes prepping dinner when I walked in the door. My husband asked what we'd be ordering for dinner when I walked in the door but was happy with my choices. Of course, I also worked out and drank water yesterday. A mistake? A coincidence? I think not.
Which leads me to my next point. If I go to the gym in the morning and work out first thing, I tend to be healthier all day long. Maybe I don't want to waste that 5:30 am wake-up by ruining my diet with extra fat the whole day through? I really don't know.
So, today will be an interesting test. I slept through the 5:30 wake-up and instead went with the 7:15 "get up now or be late for work" routine. I had an english muffin with fat free cheese for breakfast. I have a lean cuisine to heat up later for lunch. But dinner is the wild card and with my husband going out of town in the pre-dawn hours tomorrow, I'm sure tonight he will be favoring ordering out of some sort.
