Meal Prep...the easy way

We've been using our meal preparation service, Diet to Go, for about three weeks now. I've been extremely happy with this service. The food is good and healthy, it is filling, and best of all, convenient. The 1200 calorie plan is perfect for me as I add in a salad for dinner, a low-fat ice cream treat for dessert, and an occasional yogurt. I'm glad that I am on the lower cal-plan so I can have some freedom for treats. And, there are some quick ways to really improve on what is already there. For example, one of the dinners was a chicken pizza. Well, we busted out our pizza stone to warm it up and it was really tasty. I almost always toast the bread or roll for lunch when I'm at work. I always put my dinner in a real plate or bowl so it doesn't feel like eating at TV dinner. A little salt and pepper go a long way, and the occasional splash of Tabasco, or garlic chili sauce, go a long way to add a little zip.

Best of all, they added a new pickup location about 3 minutes from my apartment (the previous one was 10 minutes) and now that several people at the office are willing to try it, we might see if we can become our own distribution center!

I have to disagree. Please be aware this company is taking money and then failing to deliver food under the terms agreed upon. They said they'd deliver food to one branch ofmy gym and then call the manager of my branch to pick it up. This was to try to get a distro center set up. They didn't do that twide. Yet charged me twice and refuse to refund my money. I have been trying to get a resolution to this for months now. They won't return calls or allow me to speak to anyone who can address this. I have had to report them to Fairfax County authorities as well as the Better Business Bureau. Please beware of promoting this company to your readers!

Thank you.

James-sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with the same company! How strange that your experience is so different. We've been using the service for about a month now and haven't had any problems. When a new distribution center signed on closer to our apartment we switched over with no problems. We temporarily stopped service when we were away, again, with no problems. Each time I actually expect there to be a problem...either with billing or food not going where it should but it has been very easy. The Maryland customer service reps are friendly and return calls promptly. Maybe the Virginia customer service center trains its staff differently?

A traditional holiday meal takes on a whole new meaning when you're cooking without meat, dairy, or refined white sugar. How do you manage to satisfy your own taste and dietary needs and keep your guests happy? It can be simple if you plan ahead of time, use plenty of herbs and spices, make a few substitutions, and stay willing to try something new.
