First Week (of the new year)

Well, I've eaten better... and I've eaten worse. My daily calorie intake each day has been somewhere in the range of 1500-2000. Yes, I know that is a huge range. I'm easing back into the low cal days of my past. Mostly I haven't been grocery shopping so I'm just trying to eat less of the higher calorie foods I still have in my house!

Working out is another story. Every morning I hit snooze and think "I'll go to the gym after work" then after work I think "it is too cold out-I just want to go home". I really wish I had some equipment I could use at home other than my workout videos. Maybe I need a Bicycle Trainer for riding my bike indoors!

I just wanted to let you know that you site as of particular interest to me and I was visiting. I browsed quickly and didn't see any postings in reply to your entries, so I wanted to give you some reason to keep writing.

I have been a Dotti's Weight Loss Zone follower and recently learned of a couple other sites (getting2goal.com) that made me curious to see what else might be out there. I'm inspired by others successes. When I saw your website it was of interest for many reasons:
1. You live in Baltimore from where we moved almost two years ago (well, we were in Westminster actually)
2. Your stats are very similar to mine in terms of weight, height and goal (although I have an inch or two in height on you)
3. You had an entry on the 7th of January which was the day before I joined Weight Watchers so the timing was similar.

I am turning 32 in April. We now reside in Saint Louis (love it...so glad to be back...we spent two years in Westminster after moving there when my husband finished graduate school...I grew up in Silver Spring) and have a son turning three in April and a 15 month old daughter. I stay home with the kids. I slowly put on weight over the last few years. I'm done having children and want to now focus on becoming attractive again! I'm sick of not having nice things to wear. I want to be energetic for my kids, youthful, and a good role model for them and something to be proud of for my husband.

I joined WW and am so enthusiastic about the program. I go for my first weigh-in on Saturday morning. My first week was up last night, but I only went to a Thursday meeting to join as my husband would be out of town that weekend and I didn't want to wait until the following Saturday to join. I have been very good about following it and find it so easy. I can tell I've lost weight already based on my home scale and the loosening of clothes that were tight. I also joined the YMCA and have been taking aerobics, step and cardiokick classes. I LOVE them. I knew I had to do classes to exercise as they motivate me to finish, whereas if I'm on my own I fizzle out and stop. It is great for me to get some time away from the kids to jump around to loud music and get my heartrate up. I stick them in the daycare there and they get to socialize, which is another benefit to the situation. My 15 month old fell very ill last week so I haven't gone as much as I'd like, but have made some evening classes. I attended about 5 classes in a week, so not bad.

Anyway, I've bookmarked your site and hope to see us both progress towards our goal. I've been hoping for that "moment" where it all clicks and this weight loss/fitness became a priority. I finally got it around Thanksgiving while seeing my skinny sister! I have this incredible drive and determination now to succeed at this. I am so hopeful that it remains until completion.

Good luck to you.

Stephanie, thank you for your kind words. It is nice to have the extra support. About three years ago it all clicked and I was able to loose a bunch of weight and was pretty close to my goal but slowly the weight crept back up. Now it is a daily struggle to "be good" but I am now having more good days than bad. Good luck with your goals as well.
